Upper Franconia's brewing art relies on our Eco2Bottle concept

In Upper Franconia, tradition is not only found in the glass industry, but also in the art of brewing. The roots of the Haberstumpf brewery in Trebgast trace back to the 16th century, and the brewery still brews its beers according to the old craft. However, it is not only tradition that connects us with the brewery, which is located very close to our Steinbach am Wald site, but also the common striving for sustainability. For this reason, in mid-2021, the beer of the Haberstumpf brewery was bottled for the first time in a 100% climate-neutral Eco2Bottle.

Climate-neutral 0.75 l. Haberstumpf LOM

"We are delighted to have found a partner in Wiegand-Glas that enables us to combine tradition and modernity, craftsmanship and climate protection," says entrepreneur Bernd Förtsch, who took over the brewery some time ago.

Compared to the original bottle, the 0.75 l. Haberstumpf Eco2Bottle comes up with a 65 % lower carbon footprint. This reduction is made possible, among other things, by the guaranteed use of at least 85% recycled glass and an optimised packing specification for loading space utilisation. However, the greatest reduction is achieved with the use of 100% biomethane from German municipal waste and green electricity from Austrian hydropower in the production process. The remaining emissions were compensated by supporting a regional and an internationally recognised climate protection project.
