Eco2Rail - the greener logistics
At our location in Steinbach am Wald, work has begun on the renovation of our railway connection. We have made it our mission to once again achieve a higher rail intensity in the inbound and outbound transport of our goods and raw materials. The transfer to the safe and sustainable rail transport is now a real alternative for us to the classic transport on the road. Our more than 80 million tonne-kilometres by rail since 2013 already speak a clear language.
Reactivation of our rail access in Steinbach am Wald
The commissioning of our rail connection is planned for 2022. The plant will then be supplied daily with wagons from the DB Cargo transhipment station in Saalfeld. In addition to loading our products, it will then also be possible to obtain raw materials, such as soda ash, by rail. With every truck load of our products that we transfer to rail, we save about 96 grams of CO2 per tonne and kilometre compared to pure road transport, according to scientific calculations. The topic of sustainability has been anchored in the Wiegand DNA for a very long time and, of course, also in our Wiegand logistics.
