100th anniversary of Steinbach am Wald's glass plant: Three unforgettable anniversary days
From 17 June to 19 June 2026, the Wiegand-Glas Group celebrated the 100th anniversary of the glassworks in Steinbach am Wald together with its employees and their families, guests and business partners.
Managing Director Lukas Neubauer kicked off the celebrations at the official ceremony. In his opening speech, he emphasised the close connection between the company, the community of Steinbach am Wald and the region. Through personal anecdotes and reflections on the company’s history, he highlighted what makes a family business stand out across generations. The next generation then took the stage: Julius Wiegand, son of Nikolaus Wiegand, moderated an engaging panel discussion with four employees from the Steinbach am Wald plant.
A special highlight was the conferral of honorary citizenship of the municipality of Steinbach am Wald to Nikolaus Wiegand and Oliver Wiegand. With this award, the local council recognised their long-standing commitment to business and the community in Steinbach am Wald and the wider region. As a company, we are very proud of this special recognition and, together with the two of them, are delighted to receive this prestigious award.
A century of glassmaking history celebrated together
On all three evenings of the celebrations, the employees were invited to enjoy a relaxed atmosphere and a convivial get-together, accompanied by a varied programme of music. On the second day of the event, the spotlight was on long-serving employees: as part of the employee anniversary celebrations, numerous employees were honoured for their loyalty and dedication to the company, and those retiring in 2025 were welcomed into retirement.
The celebrations concluded on Friday with a long night of partying, during which everyone raised a toast to 100 years of the glassworks in Steinbach am Wald.
Three unforgettable days are now behind us. What remains are many wonderful encounters, shared memories and the certainty that, even after 100 years, the story of Wiegand-Glas is far from over. With a strong sense of our roots and a vision for the future, combining tradition and progress, we look forward together to the next chapter in our company’s history.
