FEVE urges to act swiftly to safeguard European glass industry
At the European Industry Summit in Antwerp, the European Container Glass Federation (FEVE) called on EU leaders to take urgent action to strengthen and safeguard the European glass industry. Representing over 140 glassworks in Europe, FEVE emphasizes in a press release the central role of glass as a sustainable, recyclable packaging material and an important component of European value creation. In view of high energy and CO₂ costs and increasing global competitive pressure, the industry is currently facing major challenges.
Wiegand-Glas supports endorses the association's demands
FEVE warns that without targeted political support, investment, innovation and industrial capacity in Europe are at risk. In particular, the federation is calling for measures to reduce energy and regulatory costs, strengthen the circular economy, protect against unfair competition, and boost demand for safe, recyclable products “Made in Europe.”
As a member company, we expressly support FEVE's appeal. A competitive and sustainable glass industry is crucial for security of supply, climate protection, and Europe as an industrial location.
