Wiegand-Glas bei der Industrie Intouch

A total of 35 industrial companies in Thuringia opened its doors on 1 November 2018 from 4:00 pm as part of the Industrie Intouch event.

An exclusive look behind the scenes

Wiegand-Glashüttenwerke GmbH in Schleusingen, PET-Verpackungen GmbH Deutschland in Großbreitenbach, and Glaswerk Ernstthal GmbH also invited the visitors to take an exclusive look behind the scenes. For the fifth time in a row, Glaswerk Ernstthal participated in the "Industrie Intouch" event organised by the Chamber of Industry and Commerce of Southern Thuringia. At the opening of the event, we were able to welcome Mr. Scheler, Head of District Development from the district administration office, the mayor of the city of Lauscha, Mr. Zitzmann, as well as Mr. Wallstein, representative of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce and Mr. Langguth from the Sonneberg training centre. After a short welcome by our technical plant manager, Alexander Treuner, the doors of the glass plant were opened. There was already a lot of activity in the entrance area shortly before 4:00 pm. Apprentices welcomed the numerous visitors, explained the safety rules for the tour, distributed green high-visibility vests, safety goggles and hearing protection. Afterwards, small groups, led by trainers and department heads, went on a tour of the plant, production and workshops.

Subsequent get-together

After a successful tour, the visitors were able to enjoy a small buffet and satisfy their interest in work and training in countless conversations. We were also able to welcome former colleagues, who informed themselves about the changes that have taken place and are planned in the glass plant. Many were particularly interested in the expansion of our plant. The successful afternoon drew to a close at around 8:00 pm, having welcomed over 70 visitors. During the event, Glaswerk Ernstthal was also able to conclude the first apprenticeship contract for the 2019 training year for the profession of process mechanic in glass technology and at the same time warmly congratulate Christian Kiel on the successful completion of his Bachelor of Engineering. As a result, the fifth Industrie Intouch event was again a complete success for our locations in Thuringia. Many interested visitors were able to get an overview of the different possibilities for apprenticeships, career opportunities, technologies and products, Wiegand-Glas offers.
