At all our locations we offer our employees modern canteens, which are also open to guests outside our companies. Furthermore, roof terraces invite you to spend your break outside. Spacious social rooms offer everyone the opportunity to get fresh on the way home after work. According to their special requirements, employees are mostly provided with work clothing which is professionally cleaned on a regular basis.
Our apprentices have been among the best for years. The IHK Oberfranken in Bayreuth (Chamber of Industry and Commerce of Upper Franconia in Bayreuth) has already awarded us several times as a TOP training company. All our apprentices are supervised by experienced trainers in our in-house training centre and in their individual departments, where they receive the necessary knowledge in theory – also by vocational school – and practice. A successful graduation is the best condition for a permanent employment in one of our companies.
Work and health are closely linked. For us, this means designing work in a way that it supports and promotes the health of our employees. Therefore, the entire Wiegand-Glas company group has introduced a company health management programme in cooperation with AOK Plus and AOK Bayern. All measures for workplace health promotion are combined under the name "Wiefit". Whether they are looking for offers in the area of stress and resource management, healthy food, health-conscious employee management or health-promoting work design – there is something for each and every one of our employees to maintain their own health.
The pathways from school to vocational training or to university are manifold. To have contact with school students from our regions is particularly important for us. At all our locations, we maintain good and constructive cooperations with grammar schools, technical colleges, and other secondary schools by cooperation agreements. These partnerships offer young people the opportunity to get to know our company, to gain a practical insight into the world of work, to make initial contact with those responsible for apprenticeships, and to try out different vocational fields and find out the favourite profession. We also offer university students support for their theses within internships.
The balance of family and work life is more important today than ever. The BRK care network Lebensqualität für Generationen ("Quality of Life for Generations") is a competent point of contact for our employees for questions concerning the care of children or parents of our employees at Steinbach am Wald. We became a cooperation partner very early with the aim of offering our employees support in the private sphere as well. We want to counteract demographic change and further strengthen our region in the long term.
In clubs and associations, people learn to assert themselves, to tackle and to take responsibility. The work clubs and associations do, is important. This is why we are always open to the concerns of the associations and charitable institutions in the towns and communities around our locations and have been providing support for decades wherever we consider it appropriate – whether with permanent advertising contracts or by supporting individual events.
